Making a significant move towards resuscitating the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Punjab, party founder Imran Khan announces the appointment of Aliya Hamza Malik as Chief Organizer of the party in Punjab. The official PTI notification was released January 27, 2025, and signed by PTI Chairman Barrister, Gohar Ali Khan.
Aliya Hamza Malik is the former Member of National Assembly (2018–2023) and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Textile. Her job is to re-organize the organizational structure of PTI in Punjab and Lahore, prepare for the party’s planned protest on February 8, 2025, and undertake political mobilization arounf the province.
Following her appointment, Malik directed all regional heads to implement a comprehensive political activity plan. This plan encompasses district workers’ conventions, opening of district offices, door-to-door campaigns, membership drives, and protests addressing issues like inflation and police brutality. The activities are scheduled to commence from February 18, 2025, with a rotation across central, south, north, and west Punjab .
Imran Khan emphasized the importance of active engagement, stating that only leaders who are visible on the ground and actively working with party members will be considered for future election tickets
Despite the strategic appointment, internal party dynamics have surfaced. Reports indicate that PTI stalwart Hammad Azhar expressed reservations about Malik’s elevation, leading Khan to assign Salman Akram Raja the task of reconciling differences between the two leaders.
Malik’s political journey has been marked by resilience. After serving in the National Assembly, she contested the 2024 general elections from NA-118 Lahore-II but was unsuccessful. Additionally, she faced legal challenges, including multiple arrests during the 2023 protests and subsequent legal proceedings .
As PTI gears up for its protest on February 8 and intensifies political activities across Punjab, Malik’s leadership will be pivotal in steering the party through this critical phase.
