ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in a series of diplomatic interactions, welcomed Greek and Swiss foreign ministers and treated them with the issue of regional development and bilateral ties. The meetings have been organized at a time when tensions within the region have reached a new height regarding the destiny of Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister Dar, during these negotiations, reaffirmed Pakistan’s pledge to peaceful resolution of conflicts and international cooperation regarding conflict issues in the region. Minister Dar again reiterated the need to promote the cause of human rights and international law in conflict zones through the case of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq attributed a bid to destabilize the region to India at a press conference in Muzaffarabad. PM Haq, at a press conference, attributed Indian agencies with plotting to bring mayhem in AJK and funding activities to create havoc during AJK protests. He claimed, “India plans to re-activate terror within the free zone, claiming it had transferred funds to incite anarchy on rights marches”. Dawn

PM Haq has dispelled speculation about AJK political leadership being battered, referring to the government move in talking with agitators as a show of strength and will to democratic values. He argued the way in which it is most befitting to settle differences from within in the spirit of peace, keeping elements outside to indulge in gorging on internal grievances.

AJK Prime Minister also condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s efforts to match the situation of AJK to Indian-held Kashmir. He opined that all such comparisons are baseless given the fact that AJK maintains a robust democratic system and civic freedoms as compared to the confines in Indian-held areas. Dawn

These incidents take place against the background of the prolonged increased tension between India and Pakistan, mainly recent developments in the subcontinent. Both countries have been trading harsh words and behaviors that have triggered an alarm call to the rest of the international community about increased escalation possibilities.
Pakistan is steadfast in support of international intervention and help towards United Nations solutions to the Kashmir conflict. The government is appealing to international powers to help broker negotiations and offer human rights protection in the region.
With continuous diplomacy, the balance is maintained, and stability in the region is poised on the undecided actions and choices of India and Pakistan, and on the role played by the international community to establish peace and solve the pending issues.
