Good news for Lahore and surrounding cities — LESCO says there will be no load shedding during Eid-ul-Adha.
The announcement was made just days before the holidays, putting many residents at ease. With temperatures rising and Eid prep in full swing, the timing couldn’t be better. People want to cook, host guests, and enjoy family time — and that means they need the power to stay on.
According to LESCO officials, extra teams will be on standby during the entire Eid break. That includes emergency response crews and support staff at local grid stations. The company said it’s taking all steps necessary to keep things running smoothly, even if demand spikes.
A spokesperson said, “We’ve completed maintenance and backup plans in advance. Our teams are ready. We aim to provide full support during Eid.”
This promise doesn’t just apply to Lahore. Areas like Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib, which also fall under LESCO, are part of the plan too.
The Ministry of Energy has also told all distribution companies to stay alert during the holidays. That includes monitoring supply loads, keeping backup units ready, and responding quickly if something goes wrong.
Many residents are hopeful but cautious. Power cuts during major holidays have been common in the past. “If they pull this off, it’ll be a big relief,” said one shopkeeper in Johar Town. “We’ve got freezers running full and guests coming — can’t afford any blackouts.”
LESCO has asked people to avoid heavy appliance use during peak hours and to report any outages quickly via their helpline or mobile app. Updates will also be shared on social media if needed.
Whether the plan holds up is something we’ll all see during Eid. But for now, it’s a promising start — and one many are hoping LESCO can deliver on.
