The arrest of a man named Salman Farooqui for attacking a motorcyclist in Karachi’s Defence area is a shocking episode of street violence. The incident was captured on video, and included the victim’s sister, who was seen pleading with the assailant to stop, from the side of the road.
The incident occurred on Ittehad Road when Farooqui’s SUV brushed against a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses say the situation escalated quickly — the man got out of his vehicle with guards, and appeared without warning began slapping the motorcyclist.
“He didn’t even wait to ask what happened,” said one onlooker. “Just got out and started hitting the guy. His sister was there, pleading, crying. But he wouldn’t stop.”
Videos of the incident spread rapidly on social media, drawing outrage from citizens across the country. In the footage, the victim’s sister can be seen crying out, raising her hands in desperation as the man continues to beat her brother on the busy road.
According to police sources, an FIR has been filed at Gizri Police Station. The case was registered after a local citizen lodged a complaint, demanding justice for the unprovoked assault.
“We have arrested Salman Farooqui,” confirmed a police official. “The guards involved are also in custody, and the vehicle used in the incident has been seized.”
Farooqui is said to have hurled threats and abusive language during the attack. The victim, who appeared visibly shaken, did not retaliate.
Witnesses claim the attacker acted as though no law could touch him. “He behaved like he owned the road,” said a resident of the area. “This kind of behavior, where people use money and power to bully others, needs to stop.”
Public reaction has been swift, with many demanding that the authorities make an example of Farooqui. “This isn’t just road rage — it’s a power trip. This man thought he could get away with anything,” said one X (formerly Twitter) user.
The police say investigations are ongoing and that they are determined to ensure that justice is served. For now, Farooqui and his guards remain behind bars as the legal process moves forward.
