Lahore – What started as a press conference to promote an upcoming celebrity boxing match has turned into something much uglier. Actress Nadia Afgan, known for her work in TV dramas, says she’s been threatened online, including with death threats, after she criticized fellow actor Feroze Khan for how he acted during the event.
It happened in Lahore just days ago. The event was meant to highlight Feroze Khan’s upcoming boxing match with content creator Rahim Pardesi — but things took a turn when Khan arrived more than two hours late. His entrance, instead of being received with enthusiasm, was met with tension, especially from journalists who had been waiting since the scheduled start.
One journalist, Ambreen Fatima, asked him what caused the delay. Khan’s response raised eyebrows — not just for what he said, but how he said it. He brushed off the question and stated, “I wasn’t made by the media, I was made by the people.” Then, strangely enough, he said the delay happened because there was no hot water at home. That didn’t sit well.
Shortly after, Nadia Afgan took to social media. She called his behavior disrespectful and said it’s important for actors to respect journalists. She didn’t attack — just stated what many were already thinking. But that’s all it took.
Within hours, Afgan says, her inbox was flooded. Not with support — but with hate, even death threats. Some messages were chilling. She posted a few screenshots, though most she kept private. “I just gave my opinion,” she wrote. “This is what I get in return?”
Now we have a situation that has many people rattled – not just because of the threats, but because of what it indicates about where this whole thing is headed. Can a public figure not criticize another person without the risk of being targeted? Can women not say something, without fear for their own safety?
This is not the first time Feroze Khan has experienced backlash. His name has appeared before – in headlines, in social media fights, in past controversy. However it is as if each time something like this occurs, it seems worse than the last.
Some celebrities have stood by Nadia, though many are staying quiet — maybe afraid they’ll be next. A few journalists have spoken up, calling for the government to look into these threats and enforce some kind of online accountability.
As of now, Feroze Khan hasn’t responded to any of it. No statement. No condemnation of the threats. Silence.
But Nadia Afgan’s not backing down either. “I won’t be quiet,” she posted again, this time more firmly. “I’ve done nothing wrong.
